Steve Hunt 2016 Student of the Year

Steve Hunt 2016 Student of the Year

For many years we have awarded a member of the UKWCKFA the Student of the Year trophy. The winner for 2016 was a simple decision and went to Steve Hunt of the Rayleigh school.

Steve came to Wing Chun later in life then most, and has struggled at times to get to grips with the Art. However, he is a always smiling (and apologising to his training partners, actually just everyone!) and is not one to quit.

Steve had to work particularly hard to pass the second UKWCKFA grading. He took it upon himself to use the Rayleigh HQ on Sundays when no classes were on. His enthusiasm finally gathered a small core of students for extra training. This group went on to successfully pass the test.

Not content with this he wanted other colleagues to take the test and kept the Sunday commitment going. He selflessly helped others to pass the test by giving them the chance for extra practice. We all know that it takes a lot of effort to get people motivated and he did just that.

He has built a great class spirit and every person agreed on how much he deserved the award. All martial arts schools would love a student with his nature and we are just lucky Steve came to us.

The trophy is a large cup, Steve is seen here with something to keep…

It has been a little while since we last posted anything. Thank you for your patience. As mentioned previously, it is a thankless task to create these videos for Facebook. If you do find yourself strangely enjoying them, please take the time to hit the like button. Or, you may chose to really exert yourself and follow us. The more feedback and follows we receive, the more inclined we may be to continue to post regularly. We are currently discussing the fighting applications of the Wooden Dummy. It has proven very enlightening to many of our subscribers, even to those who have trained for decades. It has resulted in some great material that has to be edited, slowing down anything we do for this page. This is a short extract from a 'HUGE' discussion on #wingchun Gworr Sau from back in the Summer. This is a longer clip, which we hope will be of some interest, to some people. One simply can't please all of the people all of the time..... Please accept this is just a tiny insight into the subject, and as such is open too easily to misinterpretation. Each one of our #ukwckfa 'episodes' on Gworr Sau is over 40 minutes in length and we have 8 of these this year.It is not our intention to offend your intelligence or your amazing Wing Chun skills, these are only discussions! At any point experience and skill can change a scenario in seconds. If we can accept that...can you?We have three choices 1. we edit our 'FREE' clips to ensure no offence 2. we assume you are an intelligent and mature viewer, capable of seeing that you are watching only a moment of the whole.3. we stop releasing anything for fear of hurting your feelings in some manner. We have decided that 2 is the option we will try. If you are offended please do not visit our page. You may ask us to block you, if you find you are drawn unwillingly in, like a moth to a flame.#leicesterwingchun #rayleighwingchun #stneotswingchun #bedfordwingchun ... See MoreSee Less

We would like to thank you for your patience as we have not posted anything in a while. We have a ton of short clips we can post, but time is short. As this is a free resource and consists of short extracts, please keep comments polite. (Martial Artists are supposed to have some self discipline and some self respect!!!).Wing Chun is an ‘Art’, a stylised way of moving. This was a discussion on using a particular part of the Art within the Art. All martial arts have skills to deal with things most people won’t ever do… if you keep your thoughts only on street fighting alone, it is fairly basic. There are no claims that Wing Chun is just a fighting stystem, it is a wonderful art too, trained by thousands who enjoy the unique skills. We have been very busy creating some great tutorials for our students and online subscribers. This is just a short extract from back in June when we were discussing the Cham Kiu Form.We have 630 videos posted on our channel and still producing some great training tips and deep discussions. Once again we ask you to accept that this is but a tiny extract from a far longer discussion. We did indeed discuss the other applications from this part of Cham Kiu. If you are interested we have some great moments from the Bik Sau and kicking sessions that may prove useful. Using Wing Chun kicks to intercept and counter kicks. ... See MoreSee Less
