FREE PERSONAL SAFETY SEMINARS

‘HOW NOT TO BE A VICTIM’

In 2006 the UKWCKFA celebrated its 21st Anniversary by offering FREE seminars to the public on self defence.

On October 17th 2015 the UKWCKFA will be 30 years old and as part of our way of saying thank you for your support over the years we are again offering free self defence seminars for the students, their family and general public alike.

Most people in today’s world are very cynical and believe we must be trying to get something from it. We can assure you we are not. The self defence seminars are one off events, they are NOT martial art classes. We believe that martial arts is the last part of self defence and the least important if you wish to avoid trouble developing and stay safe.

In 2006 we offered classes only to women as we felt that was appropriate based on the enquiries we had received at the time. Now we are offering these events to ANYONE who feels that it may of interest. It would be great if whole families came along!

We will be discussing

  • Awareness, Alchohol, Avoidance
  • Car Jacking, Road Rage, Car Parks
  • Robbery, Mugging, Child Abduction
  • Rape, Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence
  • Workplace and School Bullying.

As you can see we are NOT dealing with the physical fight stage as this cannot be taught in a one off seminar, and those that lead you to believe you can are not telling the truth. we will help you with:

  • Verbal Communication and tricks
  • Eye Contact
  • Body Language
  • Posture and Gait
  • Environmental Elements
  • Escapes
  • The LAW and where YOU stand

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Some of the content you may feel is inappropriate for younger persons so please feel free to discuss anything with us before the events. We are available to try and help in any way we can. We can assure you we will approach the class in a manner appropriate to those in attendance.

There is so much more to this than we have briefly outlined above. Everybody want to have a better life, to be healthy and well educated. Personal safety is an area not dealt with well installs or household discussions. We hope we can correct that imbalance and that you will not only learn a lot but enjoy the manner of presentation.

Please not you will not simply sit down and listen you will have the chance to work with each other and make the room a discussion area.

If you are interested you must contact us, as our National HQ is quite small and we hope these events will be well attended.

Just a quick look back to one of the frequent visits we used to make to the Midands Wing Chun HQ run by Master Abid Mahmood. Master Abid closed the school and retired during the pandemic, but left a lasting legacy, positively influencing so many lives. We can look back fondly at many shared years of memories and great training experiences. James Sinclair took over the Leicester based branch and teaches there on Monday evenings. We shall soon be enrolling new students to this growing class. #wingchun #wingchunrayleigh #wingchunleicester #wingchunbedford ... See MoreSee Less

As stated we are keeping some clips very short. If you like how we present the Art and would like to see more please take the briefest of moments to hit the ‘like’ button. It is modern way to be polite and say thanks….This is a tiny extract from a 40 minute discussion by James Sinclair explaining why #wingchun Chi Sau has utility in real fighting. The human arms can only articulate in particular ways. So when you adopt a clinch or close contact position (Chi Sau) there are very few shapes that are possible. It is the ball and socket joint of the shoulder where most of the variability comes from in arm strikes. And strangely enough the character for Bong Sau relates to the shoulder. Maybe they were onto something! Some people are stuck in their way of thinking and cannot get past the lessons of a teacher who may have had little to no experience in applying the skills outside of a classroom. Chi Sau can certainly be fun when two practitioners of the Art practice. However, there is also a valuable skillset for self defence and fighting held within, and that should not be overlooked. Like all #martialarts Wing Chun is often too clever for its own good. What do we mean by this? In Chi Sau we can develop fabulously intricate and subtle 'clever' skills and skilful attacks that would never arise in a fight with a non Wing Chun stylist. However, this is what's makes up the' Art' of the system and is by far what most Wing Chun students enjoy. Not everyone wishes to train to fight for years on end. Martial Artists usually grow past the phase of training purely for self defence. Casual and inexperienced observes then believe martial arts don't help in self defence when seeing fancy artistic skills. And in part they are right.....! It is the basics that are the most important. Do not lose sight of the importance of keeping a good 'simple' skillset. Don't let the 'Art of dealing with the Art' delude you into thinking that these 'fancy skills' have a place in a fight and you are, therefore, more capable of fighting than you really are. This is pretty much true of all styles. As this is such a tiny extract from a far longer discussion, it can be so easily misinterpreted. We do hope that you get the 'gist' of what was intended. If you had the stamina to actually read the post, above, and not just skip to the short video, we thank you. This gives us hope for the human species!!! James Sinclair will be enrolling new students from October 2025 at Leicester and Bedford. Call us or email info@ukwingchun.com for more info.UK Wing Chun Kung Fu Assoc.
