UKWCKFA Facebook

More photos from the private archive of the #ukwckfaAll photos shot by James Sinclair in Manchester UK circa 1988 at Grandmaster Ip Chun's request.-----------------------------------------------------------------The Art of #wingchun owes massive thanks to Grandmaster Ip Chun. He kept the legacy of our beautiful Art going after his fathers passing. It was not his choice, however, he took on the challenge, travelling the world and spreading the word.Living in your fathers shadow, and continuing his legacy, is no easy path for anybody. Many foolish people have been critical. GM Ip Chun brought the Art to the attention of so many parts of the world. This was way before the dawn of the internet and the chillike hissy fits between instructors. These rumblings were really nothing more than about money and fame, and attempting to grab a bigger share of the martket. Grandmaster Ip Chun was always very gracious to the UKWCKFA and gave freely of his knolwedge. It was others who found umbrage in his acts of kindness. Many people now feel thier linage is superior and act with almost evangelical fervour for thier teacher. The Art we love deserves ALL of the teachers who stepped up following the passing of GM Ip man and Bruce Lee to be applauded, not just the teacher's who's students shout loudest. We do not apologise if you feel offended by this post, it just proves you are one of the people who needs to look at yourself!#wingchunrayleigh #wingchunleicester #wingchunbedford #ipchun #wingchun ... Thank you for your kind likes of the previous private photos from our archive. We hope you continue to enjoy the history these reflect and do not find them too self iindulgent. The #ukwckfa were simply guests and were given permission to take a few photos. In this small collection we have Grandmaster Wong Shun Leung demonstrating the 棍馬箭拳 training drill associated with strength training for the pole. We also have a few photos on the Wooden Dummy. We can only hope you enjoy them.#wongshunleung #vingtsun #wingchun #wingchunrayleigh #wingchunleicester #wingchunbedford #ukwckfa ... See MoreSee Less

Over the 40 years of the #ukwckfa, we have met with many repsected #wingchun teachers. Among them was a kind invitation by Master Nino Bernardo to meet his teacher, the late great Grandmaster Wong Shun Leung. Sifu Bernado was very gracious and welcoming. His teacher was also very humble and as James Sinclair was not his student GM Wong Shun Leung asked James to simply call him 'Wong' and used the classic phrase 'm sai haak hay' not stand on ceremony around him. GM Wong Shun Leung took time to chat and open up about his approach and was far too self depracating. He deserved his postion in the Art and garnered great loyalty and respect from his students. Over the years the UKWCKFA have gone on to meet many of the world class students of GM Wong Shun Leung. Not all are famed for their humility and kind manner, but all act with ferocious defence of the Art they inherited. Something they are justifiably proud of.These photos have been hidden away gathering dust in the UKWCKFA archive and we felt it tme to share for all to enjoy, regardless of your linage. All photos copyright of the UKWCKFA#wingchunrayleigh #wingchunleicester #wingchunstneots #wingchunbedford #vingtsun ...
